Like myself, Mr. Ray began his own filmings self-producing and affording them personally: No one has helped him initially. He started as a writer, a designer, and a drawer. But while on a journey to Europe, he changed his mind.
That happened after a trip to Europe and England where Satyajit Ray met personally Jean Renoir.
Renoir (on whom same Visconti's started as second assistant director) screened to Mr. Ray the main emergent movies at that time... After watching Vittorio de Sica's "The Bicycle Thief" (1948), Mr. Ray decided to become a Filmmaker on his own.
Among whole Amanda's Cast and after writing the plot and story, there's especially one (without any ego, no personal interest), who had helped me selflessly and truly: This is the Story of a Movie-Maker helping another, too:
So I will like to dedicate this very touching and moving Award to my personal friend Spanish Filmmaker, director, writer, actor, teacher, professor, producer, scénariste et Réalisateur JAVIER DE LA TORRE!! He plays in AMANDA one of the main supporting roles: Elvira (a mysterious being in Coma). I plotted and wrote this character as an Hommage and a Tribute to Rainer Werner Fassbinder's "Erwin/Elvira", the main character of the incredible film "In a Year with 13 Moons". And, of course, I Dedicate this Award to the Unforgettable Memory and to the Amazing, Incredible Achieving Filmed Works of MANIK DA, whose early works had been restored by the Academy Film Archive, as this Magnificent Short Film which summarizes that Imagination will always save us!!!
