And meanwhile a VIDEO summarizing part of the Awards I won started rolling on ... Unexpectedly... February 2023 arrives (still!!!) with a Couple of Official Selections on Consecutive Days!!! Well, lets show the Video!!
Nominatios and Selectons has harrived First one yesterday from La Jolla, California, The States. For the "ACCOLADE GLOBAL FILM COMPETITION" !!! And the 2nd one just today, for the EIGHT AND A HALF AWARDS Special Annual Event (Rome, Italy), Festival on wich I won an Award a Year Ago!!... And this same post and the Video itself could then become outdated... Well, I would film a new one in that case, then...
Concerning to film a Video with some of the main Awards, I questioned myself: Why not? Not bad at all to take stock of some of the Awards I've won, even just for me: I get certain vertigo (less so now) but they there are. Now they may look very real but not even when I finished "AMANDA" did I consider or expected any, any of them!!: You don't make a project to win any award: you do it because you need to do it, because you need to tell that story at that precise moment: It's your job, your life, your vocation!
But let's us be honest... let's keep trying, let's keep going... Let's admit that not everything will be a bed of wine and roses (because it never has been!!!) . With Awards or without them!! Sometimes there will be more, sometimes less, and some there won't be Any!!! You learn to triumph having occasional sob anytime too, smiling at the enemies, believing alone in yourself (most of the time), when sometimes it is almost impossible to do so... Learning keeping quiet and thinking about the best and the worst of times , raising a lot of unexpected envy that you don´t care about, sometimes even being supplanted or copied by other companies, and failing... failing much or little but sometimes failing too!! And rehearsing endlessly, something that no one sees or appreciates or ever imagines!! And with real hardship and pain!! These are not gifts fallen from heaven... this is just Effort! And not a light one!!
And this job and vocation is not precisely for cowards, for bushleague, prudish, puritain or amateur !! Either you take all the risks or you should do something else, but not this job!! Everything but amateur, sycophant, greasy, obsequious, fawning people around!!: Never ever!! This is for a sort of warriors, sort of marines, ascetics, sort of legionnaires: not everyone can handle the pressure to perform for real, and stand up and think, to really create. This is not for everyone... It isn't... And there's always a risk... and you have to be willing to take it!! Even at the top there is a risk of failure... How many idols we have destroyed (or made self-destruct) and how we love to make them fall more and more!!
This is not comfy, not even a 9 to 5 vocation!! This is not for "lovers of putting up a show", or corny, pretentious or self-deluded people: You just have born this way...for better and worse, and as Capote wrote: "When God hands you a gift, he also hands you a whip; and the whip is intended for self-flagellation solely."
If I'm honest, I never thought about awards. I would be disingenuous if I say otherwise!! Undoubtedly, Awards have been and will be a support, an incredible accolade and a very important recognition for my career, wich will certainly be strenghtened in the future for this though. But I believe first in a well-done job, tellying a powerful story, well rehearsed, thought-out, trying to give your best: Without that, there is nothing.
In addition to the juries at Festivals, we owe it all to the Audience and spectators. We work hard so that they can dream, get excited, get their hopes up!! Without them we would be nothing, so thanks a lot!! We give our whole life to the Audience, otherwise we are letting them down!! Tons of Love for all my fellow filmmakers, actors, storytellers, comedians, entertainers, musicians, designers, artists!! This is much more hard work than red carpets. In the end there is only 1% red carpet: The rest is just having a real story to tell, observe, hard work, rehearse, effort and imagination: Something that is in very short supply: Imagination. If you notice, people have less and less or none at all... Imagination and imagining fiction is as expensive as petrol, if not more so: Imagination is a private good not a free one: Non either on a youtube tutorial. Not just downloadable and it is a scarce, declining commodity.
